Auto Fire Safety

The laws governing safety signs complement the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2006, which mandates a “responsible person” to “take such general fire precautions as will ensure, as far as is reasonably practicable, the safety of any of his employees.” This person must ensure that any non-automatic fire-fighting equipment is easily accessible, simple to use and indicated by safety signs.

Fire exits should be strategically located, with an outward opening door that has a crash bar and outward leading signs on it. Knowing where to find the emergency exits in a building that you frequent can save your life. Inward opening, rotating and sliding doors are unacceptable for use as fire exits, as they might need to be fixed open using a latch or chain if the door is needed as an exit route.
